Part of the reason I started this blog was to keep to track of my reading, and give myself a place to document a challenge or two, as I kept challenges I wanted to do in my lurking travels.
So I was excited when I saw the Armchair Traveler Challenge, which is quite possibly the perfect first time challenge for me. My boyfriend recently went on a travel book buying spree, so I was able to pull my first three books off his bookcase (aka my TBR pile part two). I actually could have had six books right there, but it seemed like cheating to overlap authors that much. (When he decides he likes someone, he’ll buy everything they wrote that’s still available in print. I don’t ever have to worry about buying anything by Bill Bryson again.) So those three are:
A Year in Provence – Peter Mayle
In a Sunburned Country – Bill Bryson
Sahara – Michael Palin
I’ll supplement those with the following from my most recent trip to the library:
Yemen: The Unknown Arabia – Tim MacKintosh
Along the Inca Road – Karin Muller
The Heart of the World – Ian Baker
I’ll probably end up reading those first, due to my library’s repressive only one renewal rule. At least I have a week’s vacation coming up shortly.
I tried to vary the books by continent, so if I end up switching anything out, I’m going to try and maintain the region of origin in the list. Can’t wait to get started.
