The big tomatoes are finally starting to turn! This particular one is probably in the sunniest location in the plot, so here’s hoping the rest follow suit soon. The above was Saturday’s haul, looking a bit like a still life.

This omnibus consists of the short story “The Borders of Infinity”, and the books Brothers in Arms (which I’d previously read) and Mirror Dance. All the stories deal with Miles Vorkosigan’s alter ego Admiral Miles Naismith, commander of the Dendarii mercenaries. More importantly, the two books deal with his clone brother, Mark. In Brothers in

I’ve decided to call zucchini Tardisfruit – there’s no other explanation for how they get so big so quickly. The monstrosity above was waiting for me after I was gone for just three day. The cherry tomatoes are starting to bear – there are a ton of buds, so the best days are
This is technically the second book in this series, but I’m starting to get the feeling the author pulled apart one (maybe two – the series is young) books to make more parts. In the last book, Jess and her brother were among the crew of a Mars ship sent to Earth to get the

Well here’s an interesting idea – vampires and werewolves as aliens, and only some people on Earth know that they exist. Earth is neutral, so there are a number of Inns here, and their Innkeepers have incredible powers as long as they’re in the Inn. Dina has been given an Inn that was abandoned, so

Back when I first planted the community garden tomatoes, I swore I was going to keep on top of the suckers. Reader, I did not. On a whim, on Monday (when I was supposed to be doing a quick check before going away for a few days), I started going after suckers.
I must first note that the back cover blurb on the modern edition of this book is terrible – it gives away the climax of the book, and doesn’t really give you a flavor of what came before it. Here, we have Sir Waldo Hawkridge, lately having inherited a Yorkshire estate from an eccentric cousin.

I honestly don’t remember what added this book to my reading pile – it’s a scholarly work. It’s also very readable, and has some great information. Sadly, I was a little disappointed, because most of the crime in this book was against the church, and I guess I was expecting something a little more interesting

The community garden plot is definitely looking lush. In addition to the crazy zucchini, a bunch of other produce is coming along. Here’s one of the fairy eggplants coming along. It has huge flowers, bigger than the Asian variety that I’m also growing, which will have bigger fruit. I can totally
And lo, the deluge of zucchini has begun. This was the crop last Wednesday. I got another one of about the same size on Friday morning – I’d made a point to stop because were were going away for the next two nights. I left it with nothing of any
