It worked! As of Thursday, all of the tubers I over wintered in the garage had visible sprouts! I do have to acknowledge that this was a very mild winter. I came across a post online with people are far north as Minnesota noting that they have dahlia sprouts in their gardens from leftover tubers

I have finally finished moving the old compost pile away from the fence to the new pile. It helped that the remains shrunk quite a bit over the winter, so I was able to knock the rest out in about 45 minutes in the hour and a half between when I get done with work
