Kate and Curran have split from the pack, but know that’s going to be easier said than done. They’re supposed to be staying away, but their friend Eduardo is missing, and his fiancée George comes to them for help. Kate very quickly realizes that there’s some very old magic in play, which is apparently dangerous

Zanna and Deeba are best friends, and one day, they find themselves in an alternate version of London (UnLondon), where Zanna is supposed to save the Unlunduners from a terrible fate. Except Zanna is unable to help, and Deeba ends up being the one to save the day. This is definitely aimed at younger readers

This book covers the history of 75 different shades and hues of colors, grouped by specific colors, with an overview of each. (And as the author notes, narrowing it down to 75 was an arbitrary choice. I wish someone had paid her to do an encyclopedia length work.) This is formatted in a way that

This is a lovely book – 16 folk tales from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark. The translations are good, and the illustrations are lovely. I really liked getting different flavor of fairy tales. I had run into an adaptation of “East of the Sun and West of the Moon” before, so I was familiar
Alice and her mother Ella are always moving. Ella’s mother Althea is an author with a cult following. Her book of fairy tales, called Tales from the Hinterland, has long been out of print, and is nearly impossible to find even in used bookstores because it’s so sought after. Alice has never met Althea –

I’ve accidently happened upon a theme here –starting in the midst of series. In this case, it’s a series of fairy tale retellings, which are loose enough there is a note saying you can start anywhere, though you’re probably better off reading them in order if you can. Cordelia is one of the youngest in

But Nikys is still in Orbas, and she hasn’t actually jilted him yet. Word comes that Nikys’ mother has been taken prisoner, and she instantly comes to Pen for

Anna and Charles, still only married a month, are off to Seattle on a mission for Charles’ father, the Marrok. I’m running behind where these books parallel the Mercy Thompson books, so this is just before the werewolves have decided to come out to mortals, and the Marrok wants to meet with the European werewolves

In this final book of the Finishing School series, Sophronia and her friends end up having to save England from the Picklemen, and it’s a pretty full on steampunk flavored, dirigible destroying experience. These books are just a ton of fun, and have just the right amount of romance included. Just the kind of fluff
