The community garden plot’s down to the kale, sprouting broccoli and collards. The calendula just didn’t look happy anymore – now that it’s November, it has gotten a bit colder, so I pulled those out yesterday. We’ll see how much longer the above lasts. It looks very weird over there with so many
Between the fact that we’re getting a nor’easter tonight (just with rain instead of snow, woo!), and that the official check out day for the garden is Wednesday, I pulled out a whole bunch of things from the community bed this morning. It’s been warm so far this October. Like, I’m currently wearing shorts, and had dinner outside last night warm. So things are still growing better than they really should be. Last weekend, I pulled out one of the two cherry tomatoes in the side garden – the Sweet 100’s had succumbed to blight.
Harvest notes: Pictures are from 10/5, 10/8 (2), 10/10 and 10/15. (Picture quality is suffering since it’s now so much darker after work.)I pulled out all the poblanos that were left on the plants yesterday. They haven’t gotten any bigger, so I figured better safe than sorry about this point.
Harvesting continues. It’s pretty much every other day now, so I’m not posting it real time. The above are from 9/7, 9/8, 9/9, 9/10, 9/12, 9/14 and 9/17. The acorn squash on the 12th was a “No, seriously I have so many I couldn’t possible figure out what to do with them
More harvest shots: 8/28, 8/30, 8/31 and 9/4. There’s a good portion of all nightshades, all the time, but I did also take out the first batch of collards to thin out the patch a bit before I left the rest get bigger.
