CSA 2010 Week 15

Today’s haul was: leeks, collard greens, celery, Hungarian hot peppers, fennel, tomatoes (2 pounds!), cabbage and green beans. It’s quite suddenly turned fall-like around here, and my cooking has suddenly turned to comfort food. I’ve been sitting on the last two batches of potatoes that we’d gotten, and those went very well with this Warm […]

Today’s haul was: broccoli, a tiny zucchini, the cutest little pattypan squash, string beans, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cantaloupe and fennel. The string beans are already blanched, and are currently curing in the freezer on a cookie sheet for an hour before I pack them away. The only notable thing I made with last week’s haul

CSA 2010 Week 14

This week’s haul was patty pan squash, a ginormous zucchini, potatoes, two pounds of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and a pound and a half of green beans. I’m thinking of freezing at least some of this batch of beans, and the tomatoes are going to be made into gazpacho tonight (so it has a full 24

Today’s haul was: garlic, carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, red peppers, and romano beans. Last week, I used the string beans to make Thai Green Beans from Simply in Season. I made it without the tofu, and it was a great side. The cabbage became cole slaw that we had with Simply Recipes’ Sloppy Joes

Today’s haul was: garlic, green beans, zucchini, tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers, a red pepper, and eggplant. Still nothing revolutionary to report prep-wise. We’ve been going with quick and easy veggie sides. This weekend, I managed to score the above: a five pound box of organic wild Maine blueberries. I have the last batch going through

Today’s haul (mostly destined for the grill): celery, eggplant, zucchini, pattypan squash, tomatoes, cucumber, tomatoes, garlic, and new potatoes. Nothing new or revolutionary to report on the cooking front – it’s been all grill or basic prep. This week’s is coming up to my father’s with me for further consideration.

CSA 2010 Week 10

My post is a bit late (late summer company-associated craziness), but CSA pick up was in fact on time. This week’s haul was: baby bok choy, broccoli, tomatoes, patty pan squash, red peppers, cucumbers, and cabbage. Nothing particularly revolutionary preparation-wise this week. I did do a lovely Roasted-Summer Vegetables over pasta from Serving Up the

This week’s haul included: cucumbers, turnips, green beans, red peppers, pattypan squash, tomato, frisee and some adorable baby fennel. About the only new and different thing I did with last week’s haul was a frittata. I’ll have to claim an Epicurious recipe as my inspiration, as it contained parsley, zucchini (I subbed a pattypan squash),

We received: cucumbers, cabbage, radishes, pattypan squash, tomatoes, new potatoes, Swiss chard, parsley, and the loveliest looking baby carrots I’ve seen in a long while. I’m not sure what I’ll be making yet with this, but I know it’ll be delicious. Nothing new to report from last week, except that I can confirm that roasted

First, for last week, other than salad, the only interesting dish I can claim to making was Garlicky Kale with New Potatoes. The potatoes were fabulous – just so lovely and creamy. Unfortunately, last week’s kale was a rather stemmy variety, so while the leafy part was delicious, despite my best efforts, there were some
