This entry is more properly titled “The Road into the Great Bay NWR”, since while we were probably on refuge grounds, these flowers were all found along the roadside, aka the classic example of “Disturbed Habitat” that most of these plants adore.

The legume family definitely came into its own this past week – there were lush carpets of them everywhere on our ride home – roadsides in New England are pretty much their ideal habitat.
