Caught the end of peony season at Gilsland, but the surprise feature of the walk was the wild sibling of sweet woodruff (Galium) that was running rampant through the fields, and perfuming the entire sanctuary with insane sweetness.

Headed down to the Island from my father’s place for the first time in a long while.   Sadly, it was raining most of the day, but we made the most of the time between the raindrops.
